I wish I was better at remembering to take photos! Oh, well I decided to share how things have been going anyway. My parents came down and spent the day playing with Alivia while Dan and I got to go to the Badger game! We were given box seats and it was a lot of fun to spend time together relaxing. Alivia had a great time with the grandparents playing at the park, eating at McDonalds and going swimming. Then we all went out to eat together for supper.
On Sunday, I helped out at the church garden picking cherry tomatoes, large tomatoes and some squash. Then we went to the pool. Alivia can float on a noodle and kick around the pool by herself now. She also jumps in the shallow end by herself and is really comfortable putting her head under the water. It is fun to see how she has progressed over the summer.
Monday, we played some at home then Dan took Alivia to the park and out to lunch! In the afternoon we went over to the church garden as a family. There were so few hands on Sunday and I new they would need help picking all the sweet corn. Aside from a minor cut Alivia got on her hand, we had a great time. She really liked helping put our sweet corn in the bucket and exploring in the field of corn. She said "I'm going to be on your team, daddy", when picking the corn. Then when we asked if she wanted to pick tomatoes or go home, she said "I want to pick some tomatoes." She really like the yuck bucket for the rotting tomatoes...she thought it was funny and wanted to throw the tomatoes into the yucky bucket. We will definitely go out to the garden again as a family.
Update: On another note I have officially ended my nanny job. Although I will watch them form time to time when they have early release from school. I have had a couple of other job offers. I realized though that they would not allow me to help out in Alivia's preschool room or go on field trips. I was really torn between the extra income and having more time at home. While I was praying about it, God led me to a few verses in Proverbs. "In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9 It Just reminded me that what God has in mind is not always what we have in mind. I felt him telling me that having extra money was not the most important thing and I need to be content with what I have. What a hard thing that is to do for me in our culture! I also heard God say that this will be a time of refreshing for me and that he wants me to have time to go for a walk, spend time with God, paint or just keep up with housework. God is so good and loves us so much! He wants to give us good gifts if we will just seek his will and listen. I am so looking forward to all this fall will bring!
Dan's job however has been really frustrating and stressful lately. Please keep him in your prayers!
